FEDEX EXPRESS ADDS HANOI FLIGHT
July 25, 2018

FedEx Express will enhance its services in Vietnam with the introduction of a freighter flight connecting Hanoi with the FedEx APAC Hub in Guangzhou.

According to FedEx, the new route will significantly improve transit times for all inbound flights to Hanoi and enable next-business-day delivery within Asia for the first time.

The new flight will be operated by a dedicated Boeing 757F four times a week to and from Hanoi. Exporters shipping from Hanoi will benefit from a transit time of just one business day for shipments to major business centres in Asia, including China, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Shipments to Europe and North America will arrive in two business days. For all shipments to Hanoi, transit times are reduced by one business day. Shipments from Europe will reach Hanoi in two business days while those from North America will arrive in three business days.

“FedEx has been serving Vietnam since 1994 and was the first international express transportation company to operate its own flights into and out of the country,” said Karen Reddington, president of Asia Pacific at FedEx Express. “Today, Vietnam is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. We are seeing the rapid development of manufacturing and high-tech industries, a surge in e-commerce, and a growing demand for healthcare services and products. The service enhancements delivered with this new flight will support the further development of businesses in Vietnam by giving them better, faster access to global markets.”

Recent research commissioned by FedEx showed that 58% of Vietnam’s small and medium-sized enterprises are exporting to markets in the Asia-Pacific region and that 80% were exporting to markets beyond. The top export destinations include China, India, the main European markets and the US.

FedEx opened its Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub in January 2018, and launched a route connecting its Guangzhou hub with the World Hub in Memphis in April 2018.
