RHENUS SETS UP NEW ZEALAND ENTITY
August 23, 2018

The Rhenus Group has established its own subsidiary entity in New Zealand.

According to the company, Rhenus Logistics NZ will provide comprehensive international and domestic logistics solutions, as well as customs consultancy with a strong focus on the customer experience offering both 4PL and 5PL solutions.

“Despite New Zealand’s geographical distance between supply point and customer markets and the challenges this creates from an international logistics perspective, New Zealand remains a leading supplier for both the global dairy and agriculture industries,” Mark Harrison, managing director of Rhenus Logistics NZ. “New Zealand commodities within these industries are seen as premium products, along with its clean, green image.”

Harrison brings with him 25 years of experience in the New Zealand transport industry.

“Supported by our strong global network, we expect to deliver comprehensive and innovative solutions to our customers, enhancing their supply chain’s value through a mutual partnership approach,” he said.

Rhenus Logistics NZ will focus its activities on imports from both the Asian and European markets, to address the high demand for products into New Zealand from these origins. The trans-Tasman market between Australia and New Zealand will also be a key focus.

“We’ve been investing in the expansion of our network in the Asia-Pacific region for several years,” said Jan Harnisch, CEO of Far East Asia at Rhenus Logistics Asia Pacific. “We took over the Australian company O’Brien Logistics about one year ago and integrated it within the Rhenus Group. We’ve also opened many new business sites, for example in South Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and in the Philippines.”

The Rhenus Group plans to further expand its services in Oceania through the first branch in New Zealand.
