Ocean Network Express has placed an order for 14,000 new, advanced-generation refrigerated containers.

According to ONE, the order consists of 13,000 40-foot units and 1,000 20-foot units. The new containers are being delivered and integrated into the existing fleet in time to capture peak season reefer demand from markets in the southern hemisphere.

Of the 14,000 new reefers, 2,100 units will be equipped with the latest controlled-atmosphere technology, which further enhances the effective shelf life of fruits and vegetables by significantly slowing down produce respiration and ripening rates.

ONE’s Global Reefer Business Planning department is based at the shipping line’s headquarters in Singapore. The team develops ONE’s global reefer marketing and business strategy by monitoring market demand and collaborating with the regional reefer steering desks located throughout the world. The reefer technical team is available on board and on shore to provide round-the-clock assistance when required.

The integration of the three Japanese lines to form ONE resulted in one of the top three reefer carriers in the world and a strengthened presence in major reefer markets such as North and South America, South Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, intra-Asia and Oceania, according to ONE.
