EMIRATES MARKS SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF FREIGHTER OPERATIONS IN OSLO
October 17, 2018

Emirates SkyCargo has completed two years of operating its Boeing 777 freighter aircraft to Oslo.

The carrier operates a weekly freighter service to the Norwegian capital, offering approximately 100 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight and facilitating international trade between Norway and the rest of the world. SkyCargo also transports cargo on Emirates’ daily 777-300ER passenger flights to and from Oslo.

Norway is one of the world’s largest exporters of seafood. Over the last two years, Emirates SkyCargo has helped transport close to 35,000 tonnes of Norwegian salmon from Oslo to a number of important export markets in the Middle East and East Asia.

Through the carrier’s Emirates Fresh solution, seafood exports arriving on freighters from Oslo are transported through an unbroken cool chain at Emirates SkyCargo’s Dubai hub onto further flights on both passenger and freighter aircraft.

In addition to salmon, SkyCargo’s freighter service helps transport other cargo including aircraft engines, ship propellers weighing more than 10 tonnes apiece and other outsized spare parts for the marine industry. In December 2017, Emirates carried thoroughbred horses from Oslo to Dubai for the Dubai racing season. The Oslo freighter service also frequently carries pharmaceuticals and other general cargo.

Emirates SkyCargo offers maindeck cargo capacity on a fleet of one 747-400F and 13 777Fs, as well as belly capacity on a fleet of more than widebody passenger aircraft.
