AIRASIA REPLACES CARGO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
October 23, 2015

AirAsia Cargo, the freight division of low-cost carrier AirAsia, has completed the transition to IT company Unisys Corporation’s cloud-based Logistics Management System for its domestic and international network.

“AirAsia’s successful business is underpinned by an effective cost management strategy,” said Tony Fernandes, CEO of the AirAsia Group. “The Unisys cloud-based model supports this strategy as we were able to cut over to the new system quickly and we pay on a consumption subscription basis. In addition, with multiple AirAsia affiliates transacting business on each other’s service, we needed an integrated system with centralized information management and visibility to further increase efficiency across the organization.”

The new system is browser-based, which means that authorized users can access it from personal computers, tablets and mobile devices.

The fact that it is cloud-based lowers costs for airlines and allows improvement updates to be applied each month. The cloud model also encourages collaboration within the airline community, according to Unisys.
