Two of Taiwan’s mainhaul lines, Evergreen and Yang Ming, have expanded their local service portfolios with the establishment of new services, both through joint structures with other lines.
Evergreen is expanding its coverage of the Middle East-Indian sub-continent regional trade through a new slot purchase agreement with Bengal Tiger Line (BTL), commencing during the first half of October. Evergreen has named the new service the Indian Sub-Continent (UIG) service and will offer a port coverage of Kandla, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dammam and Kandla. Deployment is three 1,440/1,713 TEU vessels. Evergreen’s first sailing departed Kandla on October 5, 2020.
Yang Ming is expanding its coverage of the Asia-Middle East trade by joining the SMX service operated by X-Press Feeders during the second week of October. The service is jointly-operated by X-Press Feeders and Maersk; Maersk calls the service the Arabian Star.
Yang Ming will retain the service name SMX and offer a port coverage of Port Kelang, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam and Hamad.
The entire port coverage by X-Press Feeders and Maersk is Port Kelang, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Hamad, Hazira, Colombo and Port Kelang. Deployment is four 2,800 TEU vessels. The first sailing for Yang Ming took place of October 11 from Port Kelang.
