Istanbul Airport announced via its official Twitter account on July 2 that the aircraft movements in the gateway that day, was the highest recorded eversince the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This comes as the aviation industry starts to recover after being badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic which grounded most passenger flights due to restrictions.

"With 923 take-offs and landings planned, we are breaking the flight record in the post-pandemic period," the airport posted on its social media platform.

"We would like to thank all of our guests around the world who choose Istanbul Airport," it added.
