HUTCHISON PORTS YANTIAN SETS CHINA NEW RECORD FOR VOLUME HANDLED FOR A SINGLE SHIP

Hutchison Ports Yantian (Yantian) announce that it made a new record for the largest number of moves handled for a single vessel within two days.

 

In a statement, Yantian said when serving MSC FLAVIA under Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Yantian handled 22,398 TEU, marking a record-breaking moves in China. 

 

Two days before setting the country’s record, Yantian loaded and unloaded 21,472 TEU during the stay of APL RAFFLES under CMA CGM Group, which has also exceeded Yantian’s previous record of 18,447 TEU in 2020 by 16%. 

 

Yantian said in order to prepare for the arrival of the two vessels, it formulated a comprehensive plan of berth allocation, yard arrangement, equipment, and manpower deployment.

 

 

“It is indeed a great challenge to handle such huge volume of containers in a short timeframe swiftly and smoothly, while upkeeping stringent COVID preventive and control measures at the port. Thanks to our team’s restless efforts and dedication, we made this happen and broke the record two times in a row. I would also like to thank shipping lines’ and shippers’ continuous confidence in Yantian’s capabilities, efficiency and service level,” commented Lawrence Shum, managing director of Yantian.
