DB SCHENKER NAMES VISHAL SHARMA AS CEO OF GREATER CHINA CLUSTER

DB Schenker announced that Vishal Sharma will be CEO of the Greater China Cluster for DB Schenker effective December 1.

 

It said Sharma joined DB Schenker in May of 2018 as the CEO of the Indian Subcontinent Cluster.

 

DB Schenker said Sharma is a "highly regarded transformational

leader, overseeing strong growth and performance in the Indian Subcontinent Cluster, even amid trying times in the past two years."

 

"I am humbled and honored to be joining the Greater China Cluster team, which occupies pride of place and plays a significant role in the success of the organization," Sharma said, noting that the developments of DB Schenker's China operation is a "result of great contributions from so many past and present leaders" in DB Schenker Greater China.

 

 

Before joining DB Schenker, Sharma has had over two decades of management experience and leadership roles across 3PL and supply chain management segments of the logistics industry.

 

New distribution, logistics center in Incheon

 

Meanwhile, DB Schenker also announced the ground-breaking of its eight-story warehouse named Korea Global Distribution and Logistics Center, in short KLC2, positioned in Seoul, South Korea.

 

It said KLC2, to be built near Incheon Airport, within the IFEZ (Incheon Free Economic Zone) utilizes space and special features unique to other warehouses — with focus on sustainability, innovation, and operation geared towards the "future with special emphasis on automation to ensure lean processes and highest quality standards."

 

DB Schenker said the distribution center has a land size of is 13,440 sqm, with one utility floor below ground and seven floors above, including three mezzanine floors, all used for storage and logistics operation with ancillary space for amenities and offices bringing the total gross floor area to 38,894 sqm. 

 

"KLC2 is a crucial investment in maintaining our position at the forefront in South Korea and, especially in Asia's current active economy, driving the international exchange of goods," said Dirk Lukat, CEO of DB Schenker in South Korea.
