The CMA CGM Group has inaugurated its shipping hub for the Indian Ocean in Reunion Island.

“The group restores its position as the maritime crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa thanks to our new strengthened service offer,” said Rodolphe Saadé, vice-chairman of CMA CGM. “CMA CGM contributes to the economic growth of Reunion Island with new sourcing and export opportunities, and the increased maritime activity generated.”

The French shipping line now offers five weekly calls at the island: the weekly MASCAREIGNES service to and from Madagascar and Mauritius, the twice-weekly MIDAS service linking Reunion with East Africa, South Africa, West Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and India, the weekly MOZEX service between Asia and the Indian Ocean, and the weekly NEMO service connecting the island with Australia and Europe.

CMA CGM has had operations on Reunion Island since 2003, according to a statement.
