February 2, 2016

Freight forwarder and logistics provider Panalpina has successfully rolled out its new SAP Transportation Management system in Singapore and Switzerland, and is ready to extend it to more countries in its network.

Self Photos / Files - Panalpina IT“IT and operations teams at Panalpina have been working very hard in 2015 for the go-live of SAP Transportation Management, version 9.1,” said Peter Ulber, CEO of Panalpina. “It was a very special moment on December 14 when the first shipment was successfully created in Singapore using the new system. The significance for Panalpina of reaching this historic milestone cannot be stressed enough.”

The new platform was jointly developed by SAP and Panalpina, and went through months of testing, system set-up and training. According to Panalpina, the activation in Singapore in December 2015 was later than originally planned, but the company wanted to make sure that the system was placed over efficient structure and processes.

“The implementation of SAP Transportation Management is the company’s most comprehensive project to date,” said Ralf Morawietz, chief information officer of Panalpina. “It is the foundation for future sustainable growth.”

After Singapore and Switzerland, Italy, Germany, the US and China are next in line to receive the upgrade, according to Panalpina.
