Cargolux Airlines will expand its Brazilian network by launching a Boeing 747 freighter service to Rio de Janeiro on March 4, 2016.

According to the carrier, the flight will cater to growing cargo demand between March and August, ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games taking place from August 5 to August 21.

Additionally, the airline is expecting to transport car parts and spares, chemicals, electrical goods, consolidated freight and household goods on the route.

The flight will be operated every Friday.

Cargolux already flies to Campinas, Curitiba, Manaus and Petrolina in Brazil.
