IAG CARGO OKS ENVIROTAINER'S RELEYE FOR PHARMA
September 26, 2022

IAG Cargo has approved the use of Envirotainer's Releye RLP & RAP ULD containers for transporting pharmaceutical goods.

IAG noted that the containers will help meet requirements in pharmaceutical air freight as it maintains temperature and protects cargo longer than any other available solution, without the need to recharge.

John Cheetham, chief commercial officer at IAG Cargo noted that temperature-controlled air cargo is "crucial" for getting life-saving medicines from one corner of the world to another.

"IAG Cargo's dedicated teams are always looking at ways to enhance our Constant Climate service and so we are delighted to be able to offer our customers Envirotainer's Releye containers," Cheetham said.

"Envirotainer is one of our long-term partners whose solution offers our customers a more effective mechanism to transport pharmaceuticals as well as complete visibility from start to finish."

IAG said Envirotainer's solution would be used on its Constant Climate cold chain service.

"Throughout the pandemic, IAG Cargo facilitated the movement of Covid-19 vaccines and continues to do so on an almost weekly basis, for many years the business has partnered with organisations to support global immunisation programmes," it said.

Envirotainer's Releye containers monitor the position, temperature, battery level and humidity, allowing IAG Cargo's customers to track their shipments and view the status of their cargo. These are being monitored through a control tower service as standard.

"With 170 hours of autonomy, running independently without needing to be recharged, these containers will maintain the temperature and protect the cargo longer than any other available solution," IAG Cargo said.

Envirotainer's containers also provide outstanding environmental performance, delivering up to 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to available passive solutions, based on life-cycle analysis.
