The board of directors at Kuehne + Nagel International AG has decided to appoint Joerg Wolle [pictured], current vice chairman, as chairman of the board starting from the annual general meeting on May 3, 2016.
According to Kuehne + Nagel, Wolle will succeed Karl Gernandt, who has been appointed president of Kuehne Holding AG from May 2016. Gernandt will be appointed vice chairman of the board of directors at Kuehne + Nagel International AG.
“Due to his proven leadership and management capabilities Karl Gernandt has been very successful in his function as chairman of the board of directors at Kuehne + Nagel International AG,” said Klaus-Michael Kuehne, owner of Kuehne Holding A and majority owner of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. “As delegate of the board of my Kuehne Holding AG he has been responsible for the entire portfolio, consisting of the majority shareholding in the Kuehne + Nagel International AG, the over-20-percent stake in Hapag Lloyd AG as well as assets in the real estate and luxury-hotel businesses. Karl Gernandt will now focus on the portfolio and asset management including key areas of development.”
Wolle was named vice chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG’s board of directors in 2013. According to Kuehne, Wolle, who is president and CEO of DKSH, is a renowned Asia specialist and proven business leader in Switzerland.
The directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG have also decided to appoint Hauke Stars to the board. Stars has been a member of the executive board at Deutsche Börse AG since December 2012. She has previously worked at Hewlett Packard, Triaton GmbH and Bertelsmann mediaSystems GmbH, according to Kuehne + Nagel.
