Raya Airways has appointed Lee Shashitheren as its new executive director and chief commercial officer, starting from May 1, 2016.

Shashitheren, who was previously the commercial director for the Malaysia-based cargo carrier, takes over from Mohamad Najib Ishak, who was the former managing director.

“The board of directors unanimously agreed and supported the appointment of Mr Lee due to his excellent track record and invaluable experience garnered in the industry, spanning over two decades, coupled with his strong networks in the industry, which makes him the most suitable and prominent candidate,” said Kamaruzaman Mohamath Shariff, chairman of the board of directors at Raya Airways. “As the former commercial director, Mr Lee has the edge of knowledge, experience and expertise in the industry. Our clients, stakeholders and industry peers also support this and that provides a smooth transition into his new post.”

Shashitheren started his career with Singapore Airlines Cargo in 1995 and has worked at the International Air Transport Association and Qatar Airways. He has particular expertise in developing and managing commercial, operations and financial portfolios, and capacity building and systems development, according to Raya.
