TURKISH CARGO EXPANDS PHARMA OFFERING WITH THREE NEW PRODUCTS
January 31, 2024

Turkish Cargo is boosting its logistics offering for pharmaceuticals and medical products with its launch of three new products: TK Pharma Standard, TK Pharma Extra and TK Pharma Advanced.

It said that these new offerings will meet customers' expectations at the highest level by developing flexible solutions for pharmaceutical and medical consignments in various categories.

Ali Türk, Turkish Airlines' chief cargo officer, noted that the carrier has achieved a market share of 7% in the global air transportation of pharmaceuticals and medical products.

"We, as Turkish Cargo, are making innovative investments for the purpose of not only solidifying such trust but also adapting to the dynamics of the ever-growing healthcare industry. With the new offers, Turkish Cargo is committed to providing its business partners with more assurance, transparency, and better visibility for an enhanced quality and widened range of services," he said.

TK Pharma Standard enables temperature-sensitive cargo to be shipped in compliance with industry requirements. Shipments will also benefit from expert handling, a high priority for loading, dedicated temperature-controlled storage, a trained operations team and 24/7 customer services available throughout the entire TK Pharma Network.

Turkish said it is offering TK Pharma Extra for pharmaceuticals and medical products that are more sensitive to temperature and time, which are shipped using passive packaging methods and require extra protection during apron transportation.

"While they are on the apron, the consignments, covered by such product, are carried by temperature-controlled dollies and monitored from the point of departure to the destination by the 24/7 Pharma Control Tower," it said.

Meanwhile, the carrier is offering the most advanced solutions for protecting the cold chain, TK Pharma Advanced, which provides the opportunity to consign with near-zero risk against temperature deviation by making use of active temperature-controlled or hybrid/advanced passive containers.

It said that the cargo covered by such a product is carried at a fixed temperature between -70°C and +30°C, depending on the customers' requests.

Turkish Cargo offers specialised storage facilities for pharmaceuticals and medical products at its SMARTIST TCC (Temperature Controlled Centre) in Istanbul Airport.

It noted that the SMARTIST TCC – which is fully dedicated to TK Pharma — includes dedicated storage areas at four different temperature ranges, ensuring that pharmaceutical and medical products are maintained at optimal conditions.

The carrier also holds an IATA CEIV Pharma certificate, ensuring that the transport of all these temperature-sensitive products is in compliance with industry requirements.

Turkish Cargo also provides temperature-controlled build and break-down and automated ULD storage for pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments in TCC.
