A new West Coast South America service providing direct connections between West Coast South America and South China has started calling at DaChan Bay Terminals on May 24.

ZIM Albatross (ZAT), operated by ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd (ZIM), offers a fast, reliable and cost-efficient logistics solution to exporters and importers for tapping into the emerging markets in South America.   

"The new ZAT service continues the success in Central North China and extends the coverage to South China with a single direct call at DaChan Bay Terminals as the last Asia departure port," said Eran Epstein, vice president Latin America Business Unit at ZIM.

"This new ZAT provides the fastest option for shippers with goods from South China / Southeast Asia that need to be transshipped at DaChan Bay to South America," he added.

"At DaChan Bay Terminals, besides coverage of South China, shippers can also use DaChan Bay Terminals as a transhipment hub to gain quick access to and from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia for cargoes to and from South America," Yeung added.

With the ZAT service, cargoes reach Colombia from DaChan Bay Terminals in only 24 days, 27 days to Ecuador, 31 days to Peru, and 37 days to Chile.

With South China as the last departure port, ZIM ZAT is one of the fastest services from South China to West Coast South America currently available in the market.

Ten vessels, each with a capacity of 4,200 TEUs, are deployed in the new ZAT service, which rotates ports from DaChan Bay to Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, San Antonio, Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, and DaChan Bay.
