DHL GLOBAL FORWARDING RE-CERTIFIED BY IATA FOR CEIV PHARMA
May 29, 2024

DHL Global Forwarding has been re-certified by IATA for excellence in life sciences and healthcare transportation.

The CEIV Pharma Standard award underlines DHL's commitment to consistent processes, a compliant network, and the highest quality standards in air freight.

"We are very pleased to receive the renewed global certification according to the IATA CEIV Pharma standard and the recognition of our transport network for the specific requirements of the life sciences and healthcare industry," said Max Sauberschwarz, head of global air freight at DHL Global Forwarding.

"The award underlines the continuous improvement of our service quality and reliability as a partner for processing and transporting vital and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products," he added.

CEIV is a globally recognized air cargo industry standard established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to promote best practices and achieve globally accepted standardization in the air cargo industry.

The certification recognizes DHL Global Forwarding's expertise in meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements for safe and compliant air handling of high-value, time-sensitive, and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

DHL noted that since 2016, it has certified its global stations to the IATA CEIV Pharma Standard to ensure the highest standards in pharmaceutical logistics.

"Increasing regulatory requirements in the life sciences and healthcare industry require constant adaptation in the storage, handling and transportation of products," said Dominique Mayer, global head of GxP Compliance at DHL Global Forwarding.

"With our renewed certification to the IATA CEIV Pharma Standard, we demonstrate that we are continuously improving our service quality and are a reliable partner for the transportation of sensitive products via air freight," Mayer added.

DHL noted that through independent audits and on-site training, it has obtained quality seals for its 33 strategic stations handling Life Sciences and Healthcare air freight worldwide to raise the quality of beyond the usual standards.

Its cloud-based IT platform, LifeTrack, provides customers with transparent tracking and proactive monitoring of their shipments.

DHL also offers a broad product portfolio for time- and temperature-sensitive air freight shipments at its Air GxP locations. Specialized services include the door-to-door "Life Sciences graded Specialty Courier" solution, the fixed-delivery "Medical Express" service, and "DHL Clinical Trial Logistics," a logistics solution for clinical trials such as the transportation of trial drugs, supplies, and laboratory kits.
