FRANKFURT POSTS 11% CARGO GROWTH IN JUNE

Frankfurt Airport (FRA)—Europe's busiest cargo hub—continued to report recovery in its air freight business, posting a double-digit increase in June volumes. 

 

Fraport, which operates Frankfurt Airport, said Frankfurt's cargo volumes — comprising airfreight and airmail recorded growth of 11.4% year-on-year to  178,324 metric tons.

 

This is also higher month-on-month when the airport handled 171,353 metric tons in May, which was also 9.9% up compared to year-ago levels.

 

June's performance is also higher than the 171,501 metric tons in April 2024 and almost at par with the 178,898 metric tons in March.

"Cargo traffic in Frankfurt (comprising airfreight and airmail) continued to grow noticeably by 11.4% year-on-year to 178,324 metric tons in June," Fraport said.

 

For the period, aircraft movements were up 1.5% year-on-year to 39,475 takeoffs and landings.

 

Likewise, accumulated maximum takeoff weights (or MTOWs) rose by 2.3% year-on-year to about 2.5 million metric tons in the reporting month. 

 

Earlier, the airport said for the current fiscal year 2024, Fraport expects group EBITDA to be between roughly €1,260 million and €1,360 million. For the Group result, the figure is expected to be between approximately €435 million and €530 million.
