Worldwide Flight Services has signed cargo-handling contracts with AirBridgeCargo, LOT Polish Airlines and Swiss WorldCargo at Los Angeles International Airport.
According to WFS, the new contracts will boost its volumes at the airport by more than 55,000 tonnes a year.
“We handled 280,000 tonnes of cargo for customers in Los Angeles in 2016 so it is a major airport operation for us already, and these new contracts strengthen our position even further,” said Rinzing Wangyal, vice president of business planning in North America at WFS. “Normally, we would not expect to start operations with three major customers within just a four-day period but this is what was required by our clients. The fact that we were able to do this so seamlessly and receive such positive feedback from our customers is a tremendous tribute to the expertise, hard work and enthusiasm of the WFS team in Los Angeles. We’re proud of their achievement.”
ABC operates six Boeing 747-8F flights a week connecting Los Angeles with Chicago, Atlanta, Amsterdam and Moscow.
The three-year contract with Swiss WorldCargo covers cargo handling for Swiss International Air Lines’ daily 777-300ER flight to and from Zurich, while the LOT contract is for two years and covers cargo, ramp handling and cleaning for the airline’s four weekly 787-8 flights to and from Warsaw.
WFS now provides handling services for 23 airline customers in Los Angeles.
