CEVA Logistics has signed a memorandum of understanding with Goodpack to develop a robust, sustainable and environmentally friendly supply chain solution for the tyre industry.
According to CEVA, Goodpack will be its sole supplier of steel intermediate bulk containers for the transportation and storage of tyres across Asia, North America and Australia. Both companies will collaborate with their customers to maximize usage of the IBCs, not only in the transport of finished goods but all other elements of the supply chain.
“Many tyre customers are under pressure from governments and the environmental lobby to come up with solutions for improving their footprint when it comes to the impact which tyres can have,” said Antonio Fondevilla [left], executive vice president of the automotive sector at CEVA. “This new initiative will enable us to be more efficient, reduce the number of empty IBC movements globally and greatly reduce the customer’s carbon footprint. Tyre shipments around the world are often complicated movements, characterized by short order-to-delivery cycles. These cycles can now be extended, thereby saving costs through extending their reach into these new areas.”
CEVA’s tyre specialists will continue developing the company’s IT systems to extend their capabilities so that they can provide customers with visible and reliable data. This will be enhanced with Goodpack’s IBCs, which are equipped with radio-frequency identification technology.
“Over the past years Goodpack has become the leader in the global natural and synthetic rubber packaging market with our intermediate bulk container solutions,” said Michael Liew [third from right], deputy CEO of Goodpack. “We are excited to partner with CEVA to expand our global footprint developing opportunities in the tyre logistics arena. Both Goodpack and CEVA are dedicated to delivering our shared vision of a comprehensive solution which creates value and increases efficiencies. This collaboration establishes our commitment to continue nurturing world-class partnerships with our customers and suppliers.”
