Cathay Pacific has been awarded the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics certification from the International Air Transport Association.
Cathay is the first carrier in Hong Kong to obtain the accreditation, which assesses a company’s capabilities in the handling of high-value, time-sensitive and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments.
“It is a great honour to have been awarded IATA CEIV Pharma Certification, which recognizes our commitment to our pharmaceutical customers,” said Ronald Lam, director of commercial and cargo at Cathay Pacific. “Cathay Pacific Cargo adheres to the highest operating standards and this certification highlights our capabilities in handling these precious, time-sensitive and often life-saving shipments.”
Hong Kong International Airport is sponsoring the certification of all organizations in the airport cargo community, including Cathay subsidiaries Hong Kong Airport Services Ltd. and Cathay Pacific Services Limited, which operates the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal.
Cathay Pacific Cargo operates a freighter fleet of six Boeing 747-400ERFs and 14 747-8Fs.
Cathay Pacific becomes the 13th carrier with the CEIV Pharma certification, joining AirBridgeCargo, Air France, Amerijet, CAL Cargo, Delta, Finnair, KLM, LATAM Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, SAS Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Turkish Airlines.
