DHL ECOMMERCE EXPANDS DOMESTIC DELIVERY IN THAILAND

DHL eCommerce has further expanded its domestic delivery network in Thailand to reach 100% DHL-owned nationwide coverage.

According to DHL, e-tailers previously had limited options when delivering goods to different provinces in Thailand and had to work with multiple service providers to reach their shoppers across various destinations. With the expanded network, DHL eCommerce now provides e-tailers with a seamless delivery option throughout the country.

“DHL eCommerce is tremendously upbeat about e-commerce in Thailand and we are committed to further investing in our network, people and service to become the leading domestic delivery provider in Thailand,” said Kiattichai Pitpreecha, managing director of DHL eCommerce Thailand. “With our own DHL network across all zipcodes in Thailand, e-tailers will now enjoy global quality delivery standards consistently across Thailand and deliver the smile in the last mile to their shoppers. Nationwide delivery is important for our customers and so are the benefits we offer alongside our solution. Doing business with us is simple and convenient, customers now only have to deal with a single point of contact to reap the benefits of our consistent and assured service level across the entire delivery experience.”

As part of the government’s Thailand 4.0 initiative to increase internet adoption and promote e-marketplace and e-payments, sellers in upcountry provinces are encouraged to adopt e-commerce business models for local products and services. DHL eCommerce Thailand supports merchants by offering both pick-up and delivery services.

“We’ve seen increasing volumes of e-commerce shipments not only from Bangkok but also from other provinces such as Nonthaburi and Chonburi,” said Pitpreecha. “With Thailand’s e-commerce market set to triple in size by 2020, we want to enable e-commerce for sellers – from Bangkok to upcountry Thailand – and provide them with DHL’s recognized quality for nationwide delivery within Thailand.”

E-commerce growth in Thailand is dominated by small- and medium-sized enterprises, micro SMEs and sellers on marketplaces. There are currently over 2.7 million SMEs in the country.

“The beauty about e-commerce is its low barrier of entry,” Pitpreecha said. “We have seen significant growth in e-commerce shipments from SMEs and sellers on marketplaces and in fact, SMEs currently make up around 20% of our business and their volumes are steadily growing every day. DHL eCommerce is ready to support the growth of the e-commerce industry in Thailand with our domestic network.”

DHL has been present in Thailand since 1973 with its DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Supply Chain divisions.
