According to the airport, three new carriers launched operations in Miami during 2018. Southern Air began a weekly service to Hong Kong in April and Ethiopian Airlines launched a twice-weekly freighter flight to Addis Ababa in August, while Amazon Air started double-daily services to various destinations across the US.

“We are extremely encouraged by the substantial gains made at MIA last year, from both our passenger and cargo operations,” said Lester Sola, director and CEO of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. “With more new international service launches coming soon, we are expecting another strong year of growth.”

Miami continues to be the busiest US airport for international cargo.
