Bolloré Transport & Logistics has recently inaugurated a new multimodal logistics hub in Abidjan to support development in West Africa.

The aero hub features the latest-generation equipment for receiving, storage and distribution via a tri-temperature platform (frozen, positive cold, ambient temperature) goods intended for the Côte d’Ivoire and sub-regional market for companies in the mass retail, telecoms, pharmaceutical, and catering sectors, the Centre for Aviation (CAPA) said in a statement posted on its website.

The new aero hub is located at the Félix Houphouët Boigny airport, close to the Port of Abidjan, making it a good connection point between international sea and air logistics flows as well as final consumers.

Bolloré said over €6 million ($6.6 million) have already been invested to launch the initial phase of the project, out of a total €12 million ($13.2 million) earmarked for the project in the long-term.

The firm said the new logistics hub was designed to shrink the carbon footprint of its business activities, utilizing, among others, low energy consumption (LED) lighting system with movement detectors and a storm-water holding reservoir, together with electric handling equipment that in the long term will be powered by solar panels.

Bolloré said it is committed to the logistics transformation of the African continent.
