As shippers across Asia try to manage volatility across the supply chain, it has been the local regional office representatives of Canadian Pacific (CP) that have provided time-critical updates on operations across the North American railroad.

Corey Heinz, Managing Director (Asia), Canadian Pacific, noted the importance of providing shippers up-to-date information on their shipments amid the current volatility in the supply chain. 

“With container shortages, port congestion, and the global knock-on effects of the Suez blockage, it is essential that shippers have the most up-to-date information about schedules, berth availability, and intermodal connections,” Heinz said.

He noted that CP has local touch points across Asia through its offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore — which could provide its customers “real-time updates ... in their own language and time zone.”

Through its Asia Pacific Gateway in Vancouver, CP provides direct links from Asia to major ports on the west and east coasts in North America. Vancouver, Canada's largest and North America's most diversified port, moves US$550 million worth of cargo each day, ranging from automobiles and containerized finished goods to essential commodities.

CP provides rail and intermodal transportation services across a network of approximately 13,000 miles, serving the principal business centres of Canada, plus important markets in the U.S. Midwest and U.S. Northeast.
