LUG aircargo handling GmbH has signed a new service contract with Emirates.
From October 2, 2017, LUG will handle Emirates’ once-daily Airbus A380 and twice-daily Boeing 777-300ER flights, Emirates SkyCargo’s eight-times-weekly 777Fs, as well as all road feeder services for the carrier.
“We are delighted that we have been able to win such a demanding customer as Emirates SkyCargo,” said Patrik Tschirch, managing director and CEO of LUG aircargo handling GmbH. “The bar is raised very high for ground-handling competence as well as innovation in technology and handling. We are currently expanding our Health Care Centre (HCC) in our terminal in the Cargo City South. In addition, we can offer a first-class service for food and flowers as shareholder in the Perishable Centre Frankfurt. This has, no doubt, contributed to the success of our tender offer. Adding Emirates SkyCargo to our customer portfolio boosts our business growth. We expect an additional handling volume of some 6,000 tonnes per month.”
Apart from Frankfurt, Emirates also flies to Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Munich in Germany.
“We have opted for LUG aircargo handling as they are a professional and reliable GHA that will help us fulfil our customers’ expectations and satisfy our own ambitions in terms of excellent service, an absolutely safe operation, and continued responsiveness to the evolving demands of our customers,” said Michael Laschet, cargo manager for Germany at Emirates.
LUG operates 33,000 square metres of covered warehousing space at Frankfurt Airport and approximately 3,300 square metres at Munich Airport.
