Frankfurt Airport posted a total cargo throughput of approximately 2.2 million tonnes for 2017, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, according to traffic figures released by operator Fraport AG.

The total number of aircraft movements at Frankfurt grew by 2.7% to 475,537 takeoffs and landings, while accumulated maximum takeoff weight rose by 1.3% percent, surpassing 30 million tonnes.

In December 2017, cargo throughput at Frankfurt declined by 4.5% to 180,186 tonnes. Fraport said that this was partly due to strike-related disruptions in freight handling. On the other hand, aircraft movements rose by 3.6% to 35,172 takeoffs and landings, and total maximum takeoff weight also increased by 3.2% to approximately 2.3 million tonnes.

Fraport also operates airports in countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Peru and Slovenia.
