Cathay Pacific has signed new cargo-handling contracts with Worldwide Flight Services for its new flights in Brussels and Copenhagen.

The airline has signed a three-year contract for WFS to handle cargo for its four-times-weekly flight between Hong Kong and Brussels. The flight commenced on March 25, 2018 and is operated by an Airbus A350-900.

WFS expects to handle approximately 7,000 tonnes of cargo and mail per year for Cathay in Brussels. The company will also continue to provide handling for Cathay’s trucking network to and from Belgium.

Cathay Pacific is scheduled to launch a thrice-weekly service to the Danish capital May 2, 2018, also operated by an A350-900.

“WFS has been providing offline handling services for Cathay Pacific’s trucking operations to and from Brussels for several years so we are delighted that the airline has chosen to partner with us for the launch of its new direct air services connecting the airport and Hong Kong,” said Marc Claesen, regional vice president of WFS. “To also be chosen to handle the airline’s cargo in Copenhagen further reflects the strength of the WFS network and the quality of service we provide. We have a clear understanding of Cathay Pacific’s requirements having worked together for some time and are ready to seamlessly step up to handle the strong cargo support the airline will earn at both airports.”

WFS announced agreements with CAL Cargo Airlines, Japan Airlines, MNG Airlines and Oman Air in Brussels last month, and opened a dedicated temperature-controlled pharma-handling facility in Copenhagen at the end of 2017.
