Kuehne + Nagel has released an extension of its KN FreightNet platform through the Chinese multipurpose social media network WeChat.
According to Kuehne + Nagel, traders, exporters and local shippers in China will be able to check freight rates and shipping schedules in real time. The application also enables smart searching functionality and allows users to place shipment bookings directly and electronically.
“By releasing the KN FreightNet extension for WeChat, the most popular application in China, we are strengthening our position as the leading online forwarder in China,” said Otto Schacht, member of the managing board at Kuehne + Nagel International AG responsible for sea freight. “We are taking user-friendly, fully digitalized booking and documentation management to the next level focusing on export-oriented small and medium-sized businesses and delivering an unparalleled customer experience.”
The new KN FreightNet WeChat extension will initially go live on selected intra-Asia lanes for full-container-load services, and will gradually be rolled out to other long-haul trade lanes, according to Kuehne + Nagel.
