UPS has appointed Philippe Gilbert as its new president of supply chain solutions, effective January 2019.

According to UPS, Gilbert will be responsible for global logistics and distribution, global freight forwarding, UPS Freight, as well as the technology-driven truckload freight brokerage business at Coyote. He will report to Jim Barber, chief operating officer of UPS.

He will be based at the company’s global headquarters in Atlanta and will also join the UPS management committee.

Gilbert was most recently regional CEO of the Americas at DB Schenker Logistics, based in Miami, where he led air, ocean and land logistics in the United States, Canada and eight countries in Latin America. He was previously regional CEO of West Europe from 2013 to 2015, based in Paris.

From 2005 to 2013, Gilbert was executive vice president of GEODIS Wilson, where he managed an integrated network of 57 countries around the world and more than 80 agents. Gilbert has also held leadership roles with Saga S.A., Circle International and Eagle Global Logistics.
