Cargolux Airlines International transported a record number of live animals in 2018, posting a year-on-year growth of 15.7% for its specialized CV alive solution.

In particular, the number of horses handled by Cargolux during the year increased by 30% to 2600, accounting for 50% of all the live animals flown by the carrier.

Cargolux uses specialized HMC horse stalls that provide increased stability with a double-layer pallet base, reducing the stress on the animals compared to traditional single-layer pallets.

Cargolux’s fleet 747 freighters is equipped with multi-zone air-conditioning systems that can be adjusted to suit any animal’s needs throughout the flight.

As part of its live animal transportation policy, Cargolux operates in full compliance with the International Air Transport Association’s Live Animal Regulations as well as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The airline is also a member of the International Pet and Animal Transportation Association and the IATA Live Animal and Perishable Board, as well as a signatory to the United for Wildlife International Taskforce on the Transportation of Illegal Wildlife Products.
