Hamburg Airport has begun using FAIR@Link, a new air cargo community system developed by DAKOSY.

According to the airport, the goal of introducing FAIR@Link is to standardize and optimize processes at its air cargo centre, shortening handling and wait times, increasing transparency and minimizing errors and costs. The system prepares the customs release and can automatically transmit it electronically upon entry into the airport’s customs area.

The pilot project will provide us with conclusive results for the processes at our air freight centre.”

FAIR@Link is a neutral, IT-supported air cargo community system which enables all companies involved in freight handling to optimize and accelerate their transport and freight processes for both import and export. Customs, security, dangerous goods and supply chain management processes are also supported.

As part of the pilot project, time slots are booked for the delivery of goods to the air freight facility, allowing the delivery company as well as the handling partner of the airline to plan coordinated schedules for the delivery of goods. As a result, wait times on site are lowered and dispatchers can plan for necessary capacities more easily.

FAIR@Link will initially be used at Hamburg Airport as part of a four-month pilot project, during which the project partners will concentrate on export processes. Other project participants include forwarding agents CROSS FREIGHT, Delta Stallion, a.hartrodt and Sable, airline handling partners LUG and Swissport, the Hamburg Airport Customs Office and the Hamburg Freight Forwarders Association, according to Hamburg Airport.
