July 23, 2019

FedEx Express has announced that local firm SAB Express will be its global service provider in Saudi Arabia.

SAB has been a long-term service provider to TNT Express, which was acquired by the Memphis-based logistics giant FedEx Corp. in 2017. With the FedEx takeover, SAB Express also became the licensee of FedEx Express.

"With SAB Express as FedEx licensee in Saudi Arabia, we are leveraging their comprehensive expertise in delivering outstanding service across the country and building on our mutual strengths to connect customers to possibilities around the world,” said Jack Muhs, regional president of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.

“Together, we will ensure that we continue to support the growth of the GCC’s largest logistics market with a connected road network, world-class shipping solutions, access and enhanced connectivity,” he added.

FedEx Express operates an extensive Middle East road network, connecting Saudi Arabia directly to the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan.

A Global Insight Report in 2018 said these countries account for US$1.5 trillion in gross domestic product (GDP). Saudi's logistics market, currently estimated to be valued US$18 billion could blow up US$25 billion by 2020, it added.
