APL will launch its India East Coast Express service in December 2016.

The IEX service is a weekly connection between North Asia and Chennai.

“The new IEX service facilitates our customers’ growing business need for additional and more competitive shipping options,” said Tonnie Lim, head of intra-Asia trade at APL.”Through the IEX service, shippers will benefit from fast and reliable transit between the North, Southeast and South Asia markets. Additionally, the strategic port calls of the IEX service at the key transhipment hubs of Singapore and Port Klang will open shippers’ access to APL’s wider service network for global connectivity.”

The IEX service will have a port rotation of: Busan – Qingdao – Shanghai – Shekou – Singapore – Port Klang (West) – Manila – Chennai.

The first sailing will be on December 15, 2016 from Busan, according to APL.
