MH RESTRUCTURES FLEET

Malaysia Airlines is putting 16 of its aircraft up for lease or sale, a significant restructuring move which is indicative of how badly the events of 2014 have affected the airline.

According to Scott Hamilton, an aerospace consultant, MH is offering its two Boeing 747-400Fs for sale and all four of its Airbus A330-200Fs for sale or lease.

The six freighter aircraft make up the entire fleet of MASkargo, the cargo arm of Malaysia Airlines.

In addition, the company is also offering four of its B777-200ERs for sale and all six of its A380s for either sale or lease.

The elimination of these 16 aircraft from the fleet today would leave Malaysia Airlines with 15 A330-300s, 57 B737-800s (with 14 on order and options for another 10) and nine B777-200ERs.
