The agreement also includes the opportunity for Atlas Air to operate additional aircraft for the Japanese airline in the future.

“We are very pleased that NCA has chosen to expand its partnership with Atlas Air,” said William J. Flynn, president and chief executive officer of Atlas Air Worldwide. “This follows the successful start of the first aircraft for NCA earlier this year and underscores our focus on the fast-growing Asia-Pacific market.”

The aircraft will be flown on trans-Pacific routes connecting Asia and the US starting from September 2017.

“We are delighted to expand this strategic arrangement with Atlas Air by adding the second aircraft, and we look forward to having a long, mutually beneficial relationship,” said Fukashi Sakamoto, president and chief executive officer of NCA.

Atlas Air began flying a 747-400F for NCA in January 2017, under an agreement signed in December 2016.

NCA has an all-747F fleet, consisting of five 747-400Fs and eight 747-8Fs.
