FLEXPORT LAUNCHES WAREHOUSE AT YANTIAN PORT

Flexport has inaugurated its first warehouse in China at Yantian Port, Shenzhen, enhancing the forwarder’s online-offline integrated services and end-to-end user experience.

According to Flexport, the new Shenzhen warehouse will help companies in the region accelerate their pace of global expansion. It will not only improve efficiency, but will also create better visibility for customers as their goods await consolidation and shipping.

“In our second year in China, we are glad to announce Flexport’s warehouse in Yantian Port,” said Henry Ko [left in photo], managing director of Asia at Flexport. “Flexport is committed to fostering innovation of the logistics industry in China, and we value the needs of each customer. We are dedicated to providing customers with more reliable and manageable supply chain services as a long-term trusted partner. We will strengthen our smart freight forwarding services and continue to offer better quality and a more reliable user experience to SMEs in Hong Kong and China.”

Yantian Port was established in 1992 and in 2017 handled a total of 12.7 million TEUs, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.6%.

“It is our honour to witness the launch of Flexport’s warehouse at one of our properties – the Shenzhen ProLogis-Yantian Port Logistics Park,” said Victor Mok, co-president of real estate at GLP China. “GLP is committed to promoting a smarter operational model for modern logistics to provide more comprehensive logistics services which is in line with Flexport’s direction as it has always been an industry leader on this front.”

Flexport plans to set up offices in Shanghai and Taipei later this year, and will continue to invest in establishing and optimizing offline logistics infrastructure.

The company sees much potential for the ocean freight forwarding industry, which is being driven by the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative and booming cross-border e-commerce. Flexport aims to use the large-scale application of data and information technology to create smart logistics services, improve freight efficiency and capacity, enhance emergency response capabilities and address the lack of information sharing within the industry.
