Flexport has inaugurated its first warehouse in China at Yantian Port, Shenzhen, enhancing the forwarder’s online-offline integrated services and end-to-end user experience.

According to Flexport, the new Shenzhen warehouse will help companies in the region accelerate their pace of global expansion. It will not only improve efficiency, but will also create better visibility for customers as their goods await consolidation and shipping.

Yantian Port was established in 1992 and in 2017 handled a total of 12.7 million TEUs, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.6%.

Flexport plans to set up offices in Shanghai and Taipei later this year, and will continue to invest in establishing and optimizing offline logistics infrastructure.

The company sees much potential for the ocean freight forwarding industry, which is being driven by the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative and booming cross-border e-commerce. Flexport aims to use the large-scale application of data and information technology to create smart logistics services, improve freight efficiency and capacity, enhance emergency response capabilities and address the lack of information sharing within the industry.
