PORT OF NINGBO-ZHOUSHAN ADDS SEA-RAIL TRANSPORT TERMINAL

The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan recently commenced the operation of its Chuanshan port rail freight station that will further improve the multi-modal transportation capacity of the gateway.

The port operates 17 sea-rail transportation routes covering fifteen provinces, cities and regions domestically.

The operation of Chuanshan port rail station will make it the third port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan that is capable of handling sea-rail transport apart from the area at Beilun Port and Zhenhai Port.

Chuanshan port owns the second-largest single container terminal globally, which recorded a container throughput of 10.35 million TEUs in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan is the busiest in the world in terms of cargo tonnage. Last year, cargo throughput exceeded 1.1 billion tonnes as it posted 800,000 TEUs for sea-rail cargo volumes, up 33.3%.

The new railway link is jointly invested and constructed by Ningbo Municipal Government and the China Railway Group to improving the sea-rail combined transportation capacity of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.
