DIMERCO LAUNCHES NEW MULTIMODAL SERVICE FROM CHINA TO MEXICO
Dimerco announced that it has launched a new multimodal service that would enable shipping from China to Mexico through the United States (US) amid the current crunch in both air and sea freight.

The global 3PL said its new Air+Road transport service will supplier companies shipping high-value components to manufacturing plants in Mexico to ship door-to-door from China via the US in just 6˗8 days with high security.

According to Dimerco's Central Service Center, growing manufacturing operations in North America rely on rapid replenishment of component parts from China, but standard shipping options are inadequate.

It said ocean freight is too slow and direct air freighter services are tight.

"The new Air+Road solution combines regular consolidated flights from China to LA and Dallas with cross-border bonded trucking service where team drivers travel around the clock on highways to keep cargo safe. The solution gives suppliers a multimodal service that is reliable, speedy, and secure," Dimerco said in a statement.

It added that in Mexico, cargo is delivered to the international airport closest to the consignee, where it is treated by Customs as a China to Mexico airport-to-airport shipment.

Dimerco noted that it simplifies and expedites customs clearance before transferring cargo to a standard truck and transporting it to the consignee.

"While this trans-shipment solution via the US increases transit time by 2–3 days compared to direct air freight service, it is 30–40% cheaper and is a practical response to the near absence of direct air freight shipping from China to Mexico," the company said.
