BOLLORÉ LOGISTICS TRANSPORTS METRO WAGONS FROM CHINA TO PORTUGAL

Bolloré Logistics said it transported four metro wagons at the end of 2022 from Tangshan, China, to the Guifões depot in Portugal for the Porto metro extension project.

Made by the state-owned China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Tangshan Co. Ltd., the wagons are part of the plan to extend Porto's metro network — and the first time that China-produced trains were shipped to Europe.

In a statement, Bolloré said each metro carriage weighs approximately 28 tonnes.

It added that in March 2023, Bolloré Logistics Portugal would receive a second batch of train sets, consisting of 16 wagons, at the port of Leixoes. Three more batches of train sets will be shipped to Portugal throughout 2023.

Bolloré said the success of the project is the result of the synergies deployed within its global network: end-to-end supervision from the North China Team, the Singapore project team’s technical advice, as well as the local handling and support from the teams in Spain and Portugal.

It added that the timely coordination with all parties, including the shipper, carrier and consignees, was also a priority for Bolloré Logistics, as this helped ensure the smooth and safe transportation of the train cars with cost-effective and high-quality solutions.

"Considering the long train body, heavyweight, and high value of the cargo, our team had to communicate actively with CRRC Tangshan, the shipping line, as well as all our partners within the Bolloré network," said Hongbo Sun, managing director of Bolloré Logistics North China, adding that the support of all the parties involved helped ensure the seamless delivery of the cargo to its destination.

Bolloré said this is another project that demonstrates its capabilities in supporting the mobility market, which will continue to be a target for growth in the coming years.
