HAPAG-LLOYD AND UASC ENTER TALKS

Hapag-Lloyd and United Arab Shipping Company are holding discussions on various forms of cooperation, including a potential merger.

According to Hapag-Lloyd, a potential combined entity would be based on a relative valuation of the two shipping lines’ businesses, with Hapag-Lloyd at 72% and UASC at 28%.

The talks have not resulted in any binding agreements so far and might not necessarily do so, according to the carriers.
