Kuehne + Nagel will exclusively use INTTRA’s eVGM service for the submission of verified-gross-mass information to ocean carriers, in accordance with the VGM amendment to the International Maritime Organization’s Safety of Life at Sea requirements.
“The INTTRA eVGM service reflects how closely INTTRA has worked with the industry to understand and comprehensively address the technology needs created by SOLAS VGM,” said Otto Schacht, executive vice president of sea logistics at Kuehne + Nagel. “Their solution gives us a broad range of options for submitting VGMs to our global ocean carrier partners. This solution in combination with Kuehne + Nagel’s own VGM customer portal will contribute to an efficient and reliable communication of VGM data from shipper to carrier.”
The VGM amendment, which states that shippers have to provide the verified gross mass of a container before it can be loaded onto a ship, comes into effect on July 1, 2016.
