According to TIACA, Mellin was promoted from council member to vice chair.

“In these rapidly changing times, the voice of the shipper will prove an invaluable contribution to the continued improvement of the air freight industry,” said Mellin. “The council will crucially give shippers a platform where they can better collaborate and collate with the entire air cargo community, to help create a more successful future for us all.”

Mellin is joined by Bernhard Baertschi, head of export at Bioforce AG, which is the newest member of the council. Baertschi has more than 30 years of experience in supply chain management and has previously worked at Swissair, Crossair, DHL Express and Skycell.

“Pharma is the fastest growing region of the air cargo market, and we are delighted to bring representation of this community into the new committee,” he said.

Mellin has been in the logistics and transport industry for more than 20 years, having held senior roles at Kuehne + Nagel and Nokia before joining Ericsson in 2010.

“Robert brings with him a passion and strong dedication to improving our industry and we look forward to his leadership,” said Lars J.T. Droog, chairman of the SAC and head of EMEA supply chain at Tosoh Corporation. “The shipping of pharmaceuticals is a significant sector of air cargo, and we are pleased to have Bioforce join the council.”
