Jettainer has renewed ULD management contracts with Etihad Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo.

According to Jettainer, the Etihad contract is now valid until 2021.

“The cooperation with Etihad Cargo has turned Abu Dhabi into one of our most important hubs,” said Carsten Hernig [right], managing director of Jettainer. “The trust we’ve now been given is a confirmation of our work and an incentive to continue to convince through our best service in the future. Furthermore, Etihad Cargo, as an innovative and growing airline, is an ideal partner to go live with our smart ULDs.”

Etihad Cargo will be the first customer for Jettainer’s smart ULDs, which are fitted with GPS tracking and can automatically transmit information such as location, temperature, shocks and maintenance status.

“Etihad Cargo is delighted to continue our relationship with Jettainer, which has proved to be a great partner over the past five years,” said David Kerr [left], vice president of cargo at Etihad Airways. “The renewal of our agreement is testament to our strong collaboration, and will ensure our customers continue to enjoy a consistent delivery of products and services.”

Jettainer’s renewed contract with Lufthansa Cargo runs until December 31, 2021.

“We’re working hard to make things smarter – in all respects: whether this involves smarter accounting systems, smart management for our ULD fleet or even smarter containers – and we’re delighted to be able to offer our best services to Lufthansa Cargo in particular,” said Hernig.

Jettainer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo.

“Jettainer’s innovative capabilities, as illustrated by the ongoing development of ULDs, but also in its award-winning decision support system, give us a crucial competitive advantage from many points of view,” said Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, vice president of global handling management at Lufthansa Cargo. “This makes Jettainer into a strategically important service partner for us.”

Jettainer currently manages approximately 90,000 ULDs for 24 airlines around the world.
