Emirates SkyCargo has launched White Cover Xtreme, an additional cool chain solution developed in collaboration with DuPont which provides enhanced protection for temperature-sensitive cargo in hot, cold and wet weather conditions.

According to SkyCargo, White Cover Xtreme offers even more robust protection than the White Cover and White Cover Advanced solutions. It uses DuPont’s Tyvek Xtreme W50 material and consists of three layers, acting as a shield that reflects heat when temperatures are high and as a barrier that prevents heat from escaping when temperatures are low. The material is also breathable and allows water vapour to escape, preventing the formation of condensation on the surface of the cargo.

Emirates SkyCargo has been collaborating with DuPont over the past few years on its portfolio of lightweight thermal cargo covers, and is the first air cargo carrier to use DuPont’s Tyvek Xtreme W50 material. Ground trials for White Cover Xtreme are now over and the solution will begin rolling out to customers later this month.

The two companies renewed their collaboration agreement for a further two years in May 2017, allowing them to continue developing cost-effective protection solutions for temperature-sensitive cargo.

Emirates has been offering White Covers for free to all customers with temperature-sensitive perishable consignments from June to August 2017.

Over 30,000 tonnes of perishables from around the world transit through Dubai with SkyCargo, according to Emirates.
