SEKO LOGISTICS OPENS SCHIPHOL FACILITY
February 22, 2018

SEKO Logistics has opened an 80,000-square-foot facility at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Logistics Park.

The new facility, which is now SEKO’s second-largest operation in Europe, doubles the size of the company’s previous locations in Amsterdam and brings its entire service offering under one roof, offering cross-border e-commerce, omni-channel and international transportation and fulfilment solutions. The operation also provides a further distribution channel into Europe for US retailers.

The bigger facility will support SEKO’s growth across its industry verticals, including aerospace, automotive, energy, government, industrial, medical, retail, technology and events.

“We needed this expansion to keep pace with our growth in the Netherlands, which is being driven by demand for our e-commerce fulfilment, omni-channel and cross-border expertise,” said Bob van der Putten, managing director of Benelux and Germany at SEKO Logistics. “Given Amsterdam’s importance as one of the world’s leading logistics gateways, it is also the right location to lead the planned development of our final-mile and white-glove services in Europe, using the experience we have already gained in the US market. This expansion puts us on track to achieve record growth in the Netherlands in 2018.”

The building is equipped with eight dock doors and two regular doors for collections and deliveries. It has a capacity of 5,500 pallet positions and provides over 6,500 storage locations for individual stock units. It also incorporates a 10,000-square-foot high-value storage cage and a segregated area for dangerous good shipments.

The investment will also satisfy growing demand for value-added services such as quality-control checking, labelling, repacking, adding and removing price tags, kitting and light assembly, according to SEKO.
