Ocean Network Express has taken delivery of the 14,000 TEU ONE Columba at the Kure Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation in Hiroshima.
According to ONE, the vessel is subleased to Nippon Yusen Kaisha and is the fourth newly built container ship featuring the company’s magenta branding to be delivered this year.
The ship features a hull form which optimizes cargo-loading efficiency and minimizes engine-room space. The engine is capable of either high or low output ranges, allowing for operational flexibility and improved fuel consumption. Additionally, the bridge features a new wider window for improved visibility during berthing and unberthing operations.
ONE will deploy the new ship on THE Alliance’s Far East Europe 5 service, calling at Leam Chabang, Cai Mep, Singapore, Colombo, Suez Canal, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Southampton, Suez Canal, Jeddah, Colombo, Singapore and Laem Chabang. This will be the largest container ship at Leam Chabang.
ONE currently has three more vessels on order that are being constructed, with delivery expected in 2019.
