MAERSK LAUNCHES DIGITAL CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
April 30, 2019

Maersk has launched an online customs clearance management platform to help ocean customers deal with the diverse range of controls and regulations that need to be met when trading goods.

According to Maersk, the offering will initially be available in Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK and Spain, with other markets to be added during the year.

“This new one-stop shop allows us to timely and efficiently handle export and import declarations for our customers,” said Vincent Clerc, chief commercial officer of A.P. Moller - Maersk. “The solution provides downstream benefits of full governance and compliance, and eliminates the need to provide a quote as pricing is displayed online, saving three to five minutes per quote. In other words, it saves our customers time, money and headaches, reducing the number of intermediaries they deal with from three or four to just one as well as paperwork which subsequently reduces the time spent on transactional procedures. Time saved they can then devote to grow their businesses.”

Maersk has already piloted the customs clearance shipping management platform for almost two years in Germany.

The new solution will cover all types of cargo for all of Maersk’s brands.
