3M has renewed and extended a logistics service provision contract with CEVA Logistics in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
As part of the expanded partnership, CEVA will be managing 3M’s regional and national distribution centres in Singapore, and its warehouse footprint will increase to almost 28,000m2. CEVA already manages 3M’s Malaysian and Indonesia national distribution centres.
“We recognize the increasing complexities of supply chains that global companies, such as our customer, 3M, face,” said Elaine Low, executive vice president for Southeast Asia at CEVA. “To support their strategy for a responsive and efficient supply chain, CEVA is constantly designing solutions and ways to increase our level of service to 3M so that they can, in turn, fulfil their customer promise.”
According to CEVA, services that it will be providing to 3M include warehouse management, inbound and outbound operations, inventory management, bonded warehouse storage, raw materials, inbound logistics and other value-added services.
The Singapore regional distribution centre will also adopt CEVA’s warehouse management IT system which provides real-time visibility. The centre is an important part of 3M’s supply chain optimization strategy.
“3M puts the customer at the centre of what we do. An optimized supply chain delivers tangible benefits in increased operational efficiency, time to market and cost management,” said David W. Werner, 3M’s Asia manufacturing and supply chain director. “We are pleased to work with CEVA and leverage their supply chain expertise to maintain a strong, robust supply chain for 3M in this region to better serve our customers.”
